Training resources

LiamTaking your new dog home is a really exciting time, but it can be a bit daunting as you get to know your new family member. That’s why we’ve made available some short, but useful training and settling in guides for you, to help ease the transition period.

If you would like some professional help in settling your new dog into your home, we highly recommend two training organisations, one located in Melbourne, the other in the Macedon Ranges and Melbourne West area.

Occasionally people get their new dog home, and get a bit anxious because they suddenly realise that their much-anticipated new family member is also a big disruption. It can be stressful the first week or two of settling in a new dog. Just remember that after a couple of weeks when you have all your habits and routines on-track, you won’t be able to imagine life without your new dog. And if you’re having any issues, or you’re just feeling a bit over-whelmed, don’t hesitate to contact us for advice, support or just a reassuring chat.

Patricia McConnell

Patricia McConnell is our favourite writer about dogs and dog training. If you only read one book about dogs, it should be her “The Other End of the Leash“.

Dr McConnell has written a series of small books which you can buy (in hard copy or for your Kindle or Kindle app), which cover a range of common behavioural issues.
