Tosca the cat enjoying a moment of sunshine.Heading for Home is a private animal rescue group dedicated finding homes for animals who have done their time at a pound  and who have no other options. After a two-week quarantine period our animals go into foster care (we are always looking for foster carers). we de-sex, vaccinate, microchip them to make them ready for their new home.

Our goal is for our animals and their adoptive families to be safe and happy and for our animals to never have to go through the pound system again. We work very hard to achieve a balance between screening adoptive families carefully and being overly restrictive in our procedures – every home is different, just as every pet is different, so our aim is match the right pet to the right home. We review every application on a case-by-case basis rather than having a set of hard and fast rules.

We choose our animals on the basis of their good temperament with people and other animals, health and their capacity to fit happily into a home.

We take dogs and cats of all sizes and breeds as well as all ages.

We are willing to work with dogs who have training issues such as jumping up, pulling on the lead and minor dog to dog aggression.

The Heading for Home team consists of a very small group of helpful foster carers. All our work is self funded, helped by the occasional generous donation from the community.

We are always looking for foster carers, so if you think you might be interested in fostering for us, please read more about fostering for us,  or send us an email at HfHCVAR@gmail.com
